GAWDA extends its condolences to the friends and family of Rod Spargur, Bellingham Branch Manager at Central Welding Supply. The company posted the following obituary on its website:

We are sad to share the news of the passing of Rod Spargur, our long time Bellingham Branch Manager. Our thoughts and prayers are with Rod’s Mom, Stepfather who was “Dad” for 47 years, 3 sisters and a brother, his friends, and the Central Welding Supply team in Bellingham.

Rod was pivotal in Central Welding Supply’s expansion into the Bellingham / Whatcom County market, as well as for the growth and management of gas reseller partners in Lower Mainland BC. He and Sales Manager Marshall Judy were the first staff members of the new Central Welding Supply Bellingham Branch when it opened in 1995. In the 25+ years since, Rod led the store to consistent growth, record years, and helped build out the staff there to over a dozen team members, covering multiple buildings, and serving thousands of local customers in Whatcom County. He was dedicated to his staff, dedicated to his customers, and never let either down.

Rod Spargur was a 33+ year veteran of Central Welding Supply, who started his career at “Al’s Plumbing” in Carson City, NV, a Liquid Air (aka Air Liquide) industrial gases dealer for that region, where he gained industry experience. He then decided to make a move to the Pacific Northwest in 1987 to take a position in Inside Sales at Central Welding Supply’s Everett location, where he manned the counter for nearly 8 years. Many of his Everett area customers still kept in touch with him in Bellingham, even years after his move.

Rod had a big personality, and was never shy to share opinions with his co-workers and peers, and was a favorite at company events and meetings. Everyone who knew him will miss him tremendously, and Central Welding Supply meetings won’t ever be quite the same again.

Our friend Rod Spargur was 64. Rest in peace.
