Hydrostat, Inc. was founded by Stacy Schraut in 1999 with three employees, a straight truck and approximately 7,000 sq. ft. of leased warehouse space.

“The original employees were invaluable in the startup, as was the mentoring I received from my former employers, partners and the support of my family,” says Schraut.

From the very beginning, Hydrostat has been careful to make sure that it has maintained a manageable growth plan. In the last two decades, the company has grown through expanding its territory and diversification. In 2008, Hydrostat expanded into an adjacent building, adding 20,000 sq. ft. of space to its facility as well as adding propane and acetylene requalification to its services.

In 2012, Hydrostat added repair and maintenance of ASME propane and tanks to its arsenal and in 2017, the company expanded again, adding an additional 15,000 sq. ft. to include a repair and refurbishing center for cryogenic cylinders and a new corporate office. All told, today Hydrostat has five buildings comprising 43,000 sq. ft. all in the same location in Rice. The company has grown from its original three employees to now include 37.

“Our industry is governed by the DOT and Transport Canada,” says Schraut. “The rules and regulations are constantly changing, and you have to keep up with those changes through training, updating equipment and software as well as making sure your SOP’s meet the new requirements.”

Hydrostat remains committed to adding state-of-the-art equipment, including its recent automated paint booth.

“We will continue to invest in our operation to stay among the best cylinder requalification companies in the United States and Canada and a preferred partner with all cylinder fillers,” Schraut says.

To commemorate their 20th anniversary, Hydrostat hosted an open house celebration in May.

Says Schraut, “Hydrostat Inc. would not have the opportunity to celebrate a 20-year anniversary without a lot of hard work, a lot of luck, great employees, advice from friends and a fantastic family!”
