Congratulations to AWISCO Scholarship Winner, Sofia LaSpina
In its company newsletter, AWISCO announced that Sofia LaSpina had won the AWISCO Scholarship for 2024.
“AWISCO annually offers a $1,500 scholarship through the AWS Foundation. We are proud of this partnership and our ability to help the future generations in the welding industry.
Sofia is in her first year of college, pursuing a degree in Welding & Fabrication Engineering Technology at Pennsylvania College of Technology. She discovered her passion for welding in 11th grade and it has only grown deeper in college. Sofia’s professors praise her for her ability to take initiative and help other students in the classroom, which has helped her gain more confidence and become a leader. She also works a part-time job and participates in 3 collegiate sports -softball, tennis, and cross country! Sofia made history in high school as the first first female to score a touchdown in Long Island high school history, so she is not new to breaking down barriers and leading the way. We are so excited and proud to award Sofia with this scholarship. She deserves it and we wish her the best of luck in her college career and more!”
