GAWDA extends its condolences to the friends and family of Robert L. Finnie, who passed away on January 23, 2026 at the age of 95. Robert was the President and part owner of Grand Rapids Welding Supply Co. located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was involved with the local chapter of the American Welding Society, serving as President at one point. He also helped Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan set up their welding program. He is survived by his wife Delores, two daughters and his son Robert Jr. who followed in his footsteps in establishing Carbonic Systems, Inc. as a major player in the Beverage Gas Industry in West Michigan, as well as Robert’s son Ross who works for Air Liquide at their headquarters in Paris, France, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was well liked by all who knew him.
