Doug spent 16 years at Datacor/TrackAbout, where he ultimate served as Vice President of Sales. Born in Oshkosh, Nebraska, he graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 1988 and began his professional career at Linweld, where he was technology director from May 1988 to 2006, followed by a role at Matheson from 2006 to 2010.
At his core, Doug was a family-first man whose greatest joy came from his roles as a father to Tanner and Ryan, and “Papo” to his grandchildren, Silas, Jones, and Annie. An avid outdoorsman, he loved sharing his passions with those closest to him, whether teaching his children and grandkids to fish, going for bike rides, or cheering on Husker football with Ryan.
For 11 years, Doug shared his life with his partner and best friend, Kim. Together, they found immense happiness in life’s simple pleasures, from calm days on the lake and laughing through date nights to spending quality time with their grandchildren.
The lessons Doug imparted and the memories created will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of his loved ones.
He is survived by his sons, Tanner and his wife Maradeth, Ryan and his wife Morgan; his partner, Kimberly Williams; his grandchildren, Silas, Jones, and Annie; his mother, Karen O’Dell; his brothers, Kurt O’Dell (Carla) and Mike O’Dell (Donna); his nephews, Cullen and Craig O’Dell, and Austin and Eric O’Dell; his former wife and mother of his children, Merri Jo Collins O’Dell; and many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of life is planned for October.
